Abstract:

The use of plant-based medicine has a long history in India. Only a small percentage of the many herbal medications available in India have undergone rigorous research to date. An evergreen shrub that grows throughout India, lantana camara is utilized in many traditional medicinal formulations and is widely known for curing a number of illnesses. Lantana camara is a member of the verbanaceae family. Around the past few decades, scientists and researchers from all around the world have thoroughly examined the chemical makeup of the entire L. Camara plant as well as its biological pharmacological properties. Various plant parts are used to cure a variety of conditions, including colds, headaches, chickenpox, wounds, eye injuries, cancer, leprosy, skin itches, asthma, and arterial hypertension. According to research done in India, lantana leaves exhibit antibacterial, fungicidal, and insecticidal qualities. It has historically been used to cure a variety of conditions, and scientific evidence has backed these claims. This plant's systemic examination yields a range of bioactive compounds for the creation of more recent medicinal products. Newer and less expensive medications may be discovered as a result of medical expertise, medicinal plant understanding, and scientific chemistry principles. Since medicinal plants have a long history and are a significant and affordable source of pharmaceuticals, researchers are concentrating on studying them globally in the modern period. Due to a lack of technology, the majority of the ancient system's medicines were derived from plants because they were shown to be effective. The pharmacological properties and toxicity of lantana camara are reviewed in this article. These plants' systemic analysis yields a range of bioactive compounds enabling the creation of more advanced medicinal products.
